March 1, 2021 Special Meeting

A meeting of the Stratton Village Board of Trustees was held on Monday March 1, 2021 at 7:00 pm CT at the Veterans Memorial Hall. Notice of the meeting was posted and availability of the agenda was communicated in the advance notice. A poster of the “Open Meetings Act” was clearly visible on the wall, and Chairman J. McDonald directed the attention of those present to the poster. All proceedings hereafter shown occurred while the meeting was in session. Present: Chairman J. McDonald, Trustee T. Jones, Trustee J. Griffiths, Superintendent K. League, Clerk T. Hedrick, member of the public Robert Forch, Janet Felt, Sheina Reagan and James Reagan.
The meeting was called to order at 7:15 pm.
OPEN FORUM: No comments were made.
Motion by T. Jones and second by J. Griffiths to approve the previous minutes. Roll call: Ayes: J. Griffiths, T. Jones, J. McDonald. Nays: None. Absent: M. McDonald and S. Hanes. Motion Carried.
NEW BUSINESS:
Superintendent League stated that the Village chairs have all been removed from the building and are being stored at the public works building. James Reagan inquired about the piano in the auditorium. Clerk Hedrick advised we would look more into the ownership of the piano as it was believed to be property of the public school band department. J. Reagan also inquired about the dishes in the kitchen. Jan Felt believed most of the dishes belonged to various organizations who have used the hall over the years and did not have any intentions of relocating the items. Clerk Hedrick reminded the board and public that the purpose of the meeting was to establish what items were Village property and whether they were to be removed or declared surplus. There was prior notice given to the public regarding any other property and the Village Board has no ownership over the items and therefore could make no decision over the outcome of the property. The board continued to review items belonging to the Village of Stratton. A list was compiled with all Village property in the building. Clerk Hedrick will have the list available at the next regular meeting and the Board of Trustees can make decisions on the items at that time.
With no other discussion Chairman J. McDonald declared the meeting adjourned at 7:50pm.
The next regular meeting of the Village Board of Trustees will be held on Monday March 15, 2021 at 7:00 pm at the Village Office.
