April 20, 2026 Minutes
A meeting of the Stratton Village Board of Trustees was called to order at 7:02 pm on Monday April 20, 2026 at the Village Office by Chairman S. Hanes. Notice of the meeting was posted in three public places: Village Clerk’s Office, MNB Bank Stratton, and United States Post Office Stratton. Availability of the agenda was communicated in the advance notice. A poster of the “Open Meetings Act” was clearly visible on the wall, and Chairman Hanes directed the attention of those present to the poster. All proceedings hereafter shown occurred while the meeting was in session.
Present: Trustee H.A. Windecker, Trustee K.R. Moore, Trustee S. Hanes, Trustee P. Bohochik. Also in attendance were: Utilities Superintendent J. McCorkle, Clerk T. Hedrick, and members of the public Katrina McCorkle and Jen Moore.
Motion by Hanes and second by Windecker to approve the absence of Trustee Stewart from the current meeting. Roll call: Ayes: Moore, Windecker, Bohochik, Hanes. Nays: None. Absent: Stewart. Motion carried.
OPEN FORUM:
Trustee Moore inquired about the debris on property on Railway Street. The owner of the property was planning to burn the debris from an old building once weather and moister was favorable.
Motion by Hanes and second by Bohochik to approve the previous minutes, claims and treasurers report as presented. Roll call: Ayes: Moore, Windecker, Hanes, Bohochik. Nays: None. Absent: Stewart. Motion carried.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Transformer testing was discussed. Trustee Hanes would like to see them stored properly. Utilities Superintendent McCorkle will get a current count on transformers.
Electrical maintenance projects: Utilities Superintendent McCorkle stated we are still waiting for a quote on the three-phase project.
Bid for water tower inspection and cleaning. Utilities Superintendent McCorkle stated that the inside and outside of the water tower needs painted. Maguire Iron will be in town for a meeting with water committee to discuss options.
Motion by Hanes and second by Windecker to approve the hours of operation from 3:00pm to 8:00pm six days per week, day closed to be determined. Roll call: Ayes: Moore, Windecker, Hanes, Bohochik. Nays: None. Absent: Stewart. Motion carried. Swimming pool lifeguard application reviewed and wages discussed. Motion by Windecker and second by Hanes to hire Katrina McCorkle as swimming pool manager at the rate of $15.00 per hour. Roll call: Ayes: Moore, Windecker, Hanes, Bohochik. Nays: None. Absent: Stewart. Motion carried. Motion by Windecker and second by Moore to hire Noah Wiese as swimming pool assistant manager at the rate of $14.50 per hour. Roll call: Ayes: Moore, Windecker, Hanes, Bohochik. Nays: None. Absent: Stewart. Motion carried. Motion by Windecker and second by Bohochik to hire Selah Lozano, Autumn Sutton and Molly Ladenburger as swimming pool lifeguards at the rate of $14.00 per hour. Roll call: Ayes: Moore, Windecker, Hanes, Bohochik. Nays: None. Absent: Stewart. Motion carried. Motion by Windecker and second by Hanes to hire Phyllis Medrano as substitute swimming pool operator at the rate of $10.00 per hour. Roll call: Ayes: Moore, Windecker, Hanes, Bohochik. Nays: None. Absent: Stewart. Motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS:
Fence ordinance was discussed. With no objection the ordinance will remain as currently is.
Motion by Hanes and second by Bohochik to approve fence permit at 408 Bristol Street. Roll call: Ayes: Moore, Windecker, Hanes, Bohochik. Nays: None. Absent: Stewart. Motion carried.
Sewer maintenance at 503 Nebraska discussed. Utilities Superintendent McCorkle stated the issue is on the customer line. No action taken.
Surplus property bids were received for 2009 Big Reg UTV. Motion by Bohochik and second by Windecker to accept the bid from Ed Hanes in the amount of $650.75. Roll call: Ayes: Moore, Windecker, Bohochik. Nays: None. Abstain: Hanes. Absent: Stewart. Motion carried.
Employee Report: Discussion regarding work completed while Utilities Superintendent McCorkle was out of town on training. McCorkle will speak with Assistant Utilities Superintendent regarding job expectations and reporting.
Streets, Ally and Landfill Report: It was noted that excess gravel needs removed from streets.
Electricity Committee Report: Nothing new to report.
Water & Sewer Committee Report: Nothing new to report.
Finance Committee Report: Trustee Hanes requested Clerk Hedrick to look into available funding for water tower maintenance.
Health & Welfare Committee: There have been verbal complaints regarding smell and waste from a horse housed in town. It was noted that a citation was already issued and we will consult with our attorney.
Park & Recreation Committee Report: Utilities Superintendent McCorkle stated a tree branch fell at the park and is being cleaned up.
Motion by Hanes and seconded by Moore to adjourn the meeting. Roll call: Ayes: Windecker, Moore, Hanes, Bohochik. Nays: None. Absent: Steward. Motion carried and meeting adjourned at 8:11 pm.
The next regular meeting of the Village Board of Trustees will be held on Monday May18, 2026 at 7:00 pm at the Village Office.
