A special meeting of the Stratton Village Board of Trustees was held on Tuesday November 23, 2021 at 7:00 pm CT at the Village Clerk’s Office. Notice of the meeting was posted and availability of the agenda was communicated in the advance notice. A poster of the “Open Meetings Act” was clearly visible on the wall, and Chairman J. McDonald directed the attention of those present to the poster. All proceedings hereafter shown occurred while the meeting was in session. Present: Chairman J. McDonald, Trustee T. Jones, Trustee J. Griffiths, Utilities Superintendent K. League, Clerk T. Hedrick, Assistant Utilities Superintendent D. Magley, members of the public Muriel Faimon and Debra Evans.
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm.
OPEN FORUM: Utilities Superintendent informed the board that there was been some issues with the clay valve on the water wells and Sargent Drilling would be coming out the next day to work on them.
Motion by T. Jones and second by J. Griffiths to approve the previous minutes. Roll call: Ayes: J. Griffiths, J. McDonald, T. Jones. Nays: None. Absent: S. Hanes and M. McDonald. Motion Carried.
NEW BUSINESS:
Employee Review: The board addressed Assistant Utilities Superintendent Dorey Magley regarding repeated and habitual tardiness and failure to notify a supervisor of leave. Several verbal warnings had been given on prior occasions. Motion by T. Jones and second by J. Griffiths to enter executive session for the prevention of needless injury to the reputation of an individual. Roll call: Ayes: J. Griffiths, J. McDonald, T. Jones. Nays: None. Absent: S. Hanes and M. McDonald. Motion Carried. Executive session entered at 7:12 pm to prevent the needless injury to the reputation of an individual. Motion by T. Jones and second by J. Griffiths to leave executive session for the prevention of needless injury to the reputation of an individual and enter back into open session. Roll call: Ayes: J. Griffiths, J. McDonald, T. Jones. Nays: None. Absent: S. Hanes and M. McDonald. Motion Carried. Open session entered at 8:16 pm. Discussion regarding conditions of probation regarding continued employment were discussed. Motion made by T. Jones and second by J. Griffiths to place Assistant Utilities Superintendent Dorey Magley on thirty day probationary period with proposed conditions. Roll call: Ayes: J. Griffiths, J. McDonald, T. Jones. Nays: None. Absent: S. Hanes and M. McDonald. Motion Carried.
Motion made by T. Jones and second by J. Griffiths to adjourn the meeting at 8:46pm. Roll call: Ayes: J. Griffiths, J. McDonald, T. Jones. Nays: None. Absent: S. Hanes and M. McDonald. Motion Carried.
The next regular meeting of the Village Board of Trustees will be held on Monday December 20, 2021 at 7:00 pm at the Village Office.
